TECNICHE INNOVATIVE PER LA CLASSIFICAZIONE E L’OTTIMIZZAZIONE AUTOMATICA DEL PROCESSO IN ACCIAIERIA

Within the frame of technological innovation, Danieli Automation S.p.A., a world-leading company in the implementation of process automation for steel plants, is planning to create an automated system for managing the scrap yards of EAF steel shops, thus guaranteeing reliability and efficiency when it comes to selecting, classifying and assessing properties as regards the process of recycling-scrap management.

The integrated system covered by this project shall be capable of:
1) Classifying scrap by means of automated techniques for image classification;
2) Tracking handling and dynamically inventorying stored and handled materials;
3) Planning the automated handling of bridge cranes;
4) Optimizing scrap load in the basket or on the continuous feeding belt;
5) Issuing a calculation of the actual consumptions in relation to the different scraps loaded and to the classification of specific types of surface defects on semi-finished products.

This project aims at evaluating the impact of material quantity and loading sequence both on conversion process consumptions and on the occurrence of specific kinds of surface defects on cast semi-finished products.
Such features will be assessed by means of relevant reports generated by an analysis of the data collected to reduce the consumptions owed to transformation and to prevent the occurrence of specific defects of cast materials.
